THE STORY SO FAR...

Keith Hopwood is an English guitarist, songwriter, composer and record producer whose career spans more than six decades of popular music.
 
Born in Manchester, Hopwood rose to international fame as rhythm guitarist and backing vocalist for Herman’s Hermits, one of the defining bands of the British Invasion.

During the 1960s the group achieved global success with hits including I'm Into Something Good, There's a Kind of Hush, Mrs Brown You've Got a Lovely Daughter and Silhouettes, touring extensively throughout the United States and Europe.
 
In 1968 Hopwood and fellow band member Derek Leckenby founded Pluto Music, a music production company that became an institution in music for British animation, as well as recording acts such as The Clash and The Smiths.

Over the following decades Hopwood composed and produced music for numerous animation and television projects including The Wind in the Willows, The BFG, Bob the Builder, Pingu and Daisy & Ollie.
 
Alongside his composition work he continued writing and developing artists through Pluto’s studio facilities, continuing to host many prominent bands of the Manchester music scene.
 
2021 saw Hopwood returning to recording his own music with the release of Never Too Late, a collection of original songs written during lockdown and produced with his son Dan Hopwood. This was followed by the ongoing Freedom Calls series of releases.
 
In 2024 his memoir A Hermit’s Tale released to great acclaim within the Hermit's fan community and documented his journey from the British Invasion to a lifetime in music production and songwriting.

Keith is currently working with former Hermit Peter Noone on the first original music by more than one member of the Hermit's in over 50 years.
